<p>Hosted by the Centre for Leadership, Innovation and Change Through Knowledge Transfer and supported by Citizens Advice, this innovative event aims to bring together representatives of the health and advice sectors to showcase and highlight innovative and different ways of working together that enhance the service and bring real benefits to agencies involved. It offers a forum to explore the opportunities for new service delivery and configuration in the changing health and advice sectors. </p>

<p>Aimed at a regional and local audience, drawn from Citizen Advice staff, NHS representatives, regional and local voluntary sector organisations, local councils and the University of Hull. </p>

<p><strong>NHS Hull West Locality </strong><strong>“Your Voice Your Choice” </strong><strong> - </strong><strong>Voting Event for </strong><strong>Residents of West Hull</strong></p>
<p>Participatory Budgeting (PB) is an innovative way of allocating resources – residents vote on which project proposals will be delivered in their neighbourhoods, thereby participating directly in the budget allocation of resources. </p>
<p>The West Locality of NHS Hull has identified funding to carry out a Participatory Budgeting pilot called “Your Voice Your Choice”. Groups and organisations have been invited to submit applications for this funding for the delivery of delivery of projects related to health and Public Health priorities. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This free conference and learning event will bring together people from the voluntary and statutory sectors across the Humber sub region who are passionate about choice, independence and well being in later life. The conference will hear from expert speakers and will also offer delegates the chance to participate in workshops to explore how partnership working across organisations ultimately benefits older people.</p>
<p>The conference is for anyone wishing to develop new or improve existing partnership arrangements by learning from others and exploring the challenges and opportunities that partnerships bring.  </p>
<p>Speakers and workshops include:</p>

<li>Personalisation ~ Hull City Healthcare Partnership and North Lincolnshire Council</li>
<li>Assistive technology ~  Hull City Council</li>
<li>Older people’s view of choice and independence ~ Pensioners Action Group East Riding</li>

<p>If you are involved in customer services or the caring profession this training package is for you. The Disability Discrimination Act makes it unlawful to discriminate against a person because of their disability. Our Visually Impairment Awareness Training Course (OCN) will give staff the skills and knowledge to deliver services which are accessible and inclusive for visually impaired people.</p>
<h4>The course is suitable for the following staff:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Caring and support staff in residential homes and day centres;</li>
<li>Educational staff;</li>
<li>Sales staff and local authority workers;</li>
<li>Nursing and auxiliary staff;</li>
</ul>
<h4>The Learning Outcomes:</h4>
<p>At the end of the course the learner will be able to:</p>
<ul>
<li>Understand visual impairment ;</li>
<li>Understand how VI people can travel safely and efficiently;</li>
<li>Describe different methods of communication;</li>
<li>Understand how VI people may overcome problems with daily living;</li>
<li>Describe the technology available to help VI people;</li>
<li>Describe benefits and services.</li>
</ul>
<h4>The Course:</h4>
<p>The Course is ten hours in length, comprising :</p>
<ul>
<li>A seven hour, one day training session</li>
<li>Three hours work-based private study, where a small project is completed under supervision</li>
</ul>
<h4>About Accreditation:</h4>
<p>The OCN awards credits to recognise a learner’s achievements.<br />
The Visual Impairment Awareness course is delivered at Level One, one credit, which is comparable to NVQ1.</p>

<p>The Gypsy and Traveller Community is one of the most marginalized communities in the UK. Research has confirmed they have amongst the poorest health in UK of any racial group and face discrimination on almost a daily basis.</p>
<p>This conference follows on from the Hull and East Riding Gypsy and Traveller Health and Wellbeing event held in 2005 in which service providers and community members from across the region came together to discuss the issues faced by the community and suggested ways of tackling inequalities.</p>
<p>So, after 5 years, we ask: has anything REALLY changed?</p>
<p>The conference will:</p>
<p>• Give delegates an insight into the health and accommodation inequalities faced by the Gypsy and Traveller communities</p>
<p>• Share learning from across the UK from innovative projects working with the Gypsy and Traveller communities</p>
<p>• Explore recent developments in community development, health and accommodation</p>
<p>• Provide opportunities to network and present lessons for future service development</p>
<p>This conference is for you if you work, or plan to work:</p>
<p>• In Youth Services, Health Centres/Services, Housing and Enforcement Teams, Police, Planning Departments, and Area Teams</p>
<p>• With members of the Gypsy and Traveller communities</p>
<p>• On issues relating to health, social exclusion, accommodation for Gypsies and Travellers, Young People, enforcement and participation</p>
<p>• In services committed to promoting equality to all or representing BME groups</p>
<p>Presentations and workshops will be delivered by a wide range of services that work closely with the Gypsy and Traveller community including solicitors, researchers and regional Gypsy and Traveller Organisations.</p>
