Membership of the LINk is free and it is up to you how much time you devote to the LINk. You may just want to be kept informed of our work via a newsletter, or spend a few minutes responding to a survey. Alternatively, you may want to get more involved and attend LINk Forums, stand for election to the Steering Group or join one of our action groups on a particular issue. Hull LINk will help you be involved in any way you wish. It’s up to you. Click this link for more information on ways to get involved.

What are different types of membership?

Your membership type will depend on whereabouts you live and whether you are joining as an individual or a group.

Individual Member:

Individual members are individuals that live within the Hull City Council area. The one exception is if you live outside of Hull, but use primary care services within Hull (i.e. a GP, dentist, or optician) then you can still become a member of the Hull LINk. Individual members are able to vote on LINk issues and can stand/vote for elections to the LINk Steering Group.

Individual Associate Member:

People who do not live in Hull and do not use primary care services can become Individual Associates. Associates will receive information and be invited to attend events but cannot vote on LINk issues or stand/vote for elections to the LINk Steering Group.

Group Member:

Voluntary and community groups that are based in, or who work in the Hull City Council area can also become a Group Member. Your group will need to nominate a representative who can vote on LINk issues and will be the main point of contact for information. Like individual members, group members are able to vote on LINk issues and stand/vote for elections to the LINk Steering Group.

Group Associate Member:

If after a voluntary or community organisation has become a Group member and has nominated its lead representative, any additional people (staff, volunteers, trustees) from that organisation can become a Group Associate Member. Group Associate members will receive information and be invited to attend events but cannot vote on LINk issues or stand/vote for elections to the LINk Steering Group (the lead representative from the organisation would do this on behalf of the group).

The main difference between being a member (individual or group) and an associate member is that associate members are not able to vote on LINk issues or stand/vote for elections to the LINk Steering Group. If you are an associate you can still get involved in every other way.
