Government Response to Alberti and Colin-Thomé reports
The Government has recently published a response to the ‘Alberti and Colin-Thomé Reports’ – two reviews led by Professor Sir George Alberti, National Clinical Director for Emergency Care and Dr David Colin-Thomé, National Clinical Director for Primary Care, into the circumstances surrounding the ‘severe failings in emergency care provided by Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust .
Amongst other recommendations, the response notes the issues around PPI at the Trust and, as a result, the Government has made a commitment to strengthen certain areas related to PPI, with particular reference to LINks and the NHS complaints system.
The response contains recommendations related to LINks and their relationship to NHS Trusts.
The Government pledges to “give extra support to LINks across the country, including a ‘how to be heard’ guide for the public and a national publicity campaign to promote awareness of the role of LINks in influencing local decision-making around NHS services.”
