Health fair, health care, be there…
Date Wednesday 30th September 2009 Time 5pm
Place Kingston Suite, KC Stadium, Walton Street, Hull, HU3 6JU.
Residents will get to find out what shape the local health service is in when NHS Hull holds its Annual General Meeting (AGM) next week.
Residents are invited to the KC Stadium’s Kingston Suite on Wednesday 30th September to find out more about what the local NHS has been up to over the last year, as well as what’s happening both now and in the future.
The evening starts with a health fair at 5.00pm. Guests will be able to visit a number of stands linked to some of the NHS’s key priorities including children and young people, diabetes, stroke, healthy lifestyles and much more. Free healthy living advice and health tests will be available, and visitors will get the chance to make their own smoothie using the pedal-powered ‘BlendaVenda’.
This will be followed by the formal AGM at 6.00pm, which will include:
- a review of the year’s events and service developments by the Chief Executive of NHS Hull, Chris Long
- a short summary of the financial year and presentation of the Trust’s Annual Report and Accounts by Director of Finance, Alan Barton
- a presentation on the Director of Public Health’s Annual Report by the author, Dr Wendy Richardson
- a look ahead to the city’s forthcoming health challenges by the Chair, Kath Lavery
Following very positive feedback last year, the evening will also see the return of the half-time “Energiser” session. The Energiser is a short, easy workout for people of all ages and abilities – more than 100 people joined in last year and it certainly added a new dimension to audience participation!
Kath Lavery explains why she always looks forward to this night in particular:
“We experienced our most popular AGM ever last year and even ended up bringing in extra chairs for the many members of the public who decided to attend the event. We are pleased that so many people are taking an active interest in their own health and that of the wider community and welcome newcomers to the AGM as well as those who attend each year.”
Copies of the Trust’s Annual Report and Financial Accounts will be available at the meeting, and light refreshments will be served. For more information or to book your place, please call NHS Hull on (01482) 344836.
